JAKARTA, TruePapua.com – The Garuda Indonesia Softball Club participated for the first time in the 10th Blacktown Junior International Challenge softball championship in New South Wales, Australia, 25-27 March 2016.
The Garuda Indonesia team consists of 11 players, Ocan, Rizkia, Chantique, Pru, Adel, Sekar, Putri, Raniya, Ana, Malya and Selma. Notably, the team also has two talented players from Papua, Adel (Adelaide Tania Waromi), and Ana Blandina Elisabeth Marandof.
The team’s participation has made the“Indonesia Raya” national anthem reverberate at the NSW Softball stadium, Blacktown International Sport Park for the first time.
Alongside the ISA New Zealand Boys and 4 teams from Japan Elementary Schools, the Garuda Indonesia Softball Club is among the international teams participating in the competition. Local teams participating include Metro, Country, and Canberra Boys.
The Garuda Indonesia Team’s performance was well received by Softball New South wales, especially when competing against international and local teams. In their facebook page, Softball New South Wales expressed their appreciation and hopes that the Garuda Indonesia Team can again
take part in the competition next year.
